The word “specialist” is quite sacred in the medical field. Only those extensively trained and board-certified like Dr. Sallie Hyman and Dr. Elizabeth Coppelman, can claim the title of “Expert” or “Specialist.”

Veterinary specialists are veterinarians who have advanced training in various medical and surgical disciplines. These specialists have

  • Four years of undergraduate training (College degree, usually in a Science Field)
  • Four years of veterinary school
  • Completed an internship or two, for 1 or 2 years
  • Completed a residency in their specialized field, which involves three to five years of additional training
  • Become board certified
  • Passed a rigorous test that takes months to study for and pass
  • Published a research paper in a required peer-reviewed national journal
  • Submitted the required number of specific case reports

With this experience and expertise, it means that TEVA’s veterinarians bring skills to your farm far beyond the general veterinary practitioner. TEVA always wants to ensure that you have a variety of care and treatment options when it comes to keeping your horses Healthy for Life.
