Danica Arriagada

Danica joined the TEVA team in March 2021. Moving from her home state of New Jersey, Danica first came to the DMV area in 2019 and to Northern Virginia in 2021. She lives in the area with her husband, daughter, two cats, and dog. Danica spends her time riding, reading and playing video games, and loves exploring the area!

Danica comes to TEVA with qualified veterinary medicine experience as a receptionist & barn assistant. In 2015, she had her first foray into small animal veterinary medicine before returning to her first love, horses. She has been riding since she was 9 years old, everything from western pleasure to Eventing. Danica attended Johnson & Wales University in Providence, RI and holds a degree in Equine Business Management. She had an exciting opportunity to study abroad at Riding & Driving School for Small & Large Bronze medals in Handorf, Germany.

Brittany Trent

Brittany has been with TEVA since June 2021 and lives in Dickerson, Maryland with her 4 dogs and mom on the family farm, Savage Acres. She has lived in the DMV area for most of her life with the exception of her time in Lexington at the University of Kentucky. Brittany studied Animal Science with a specialization in equine science. While living in KY, she worked at Gainesway Small Animal Clinic, Bluegrass Veterinary Specialty and Emergency, and worked a summer internship in the Big Barn at The Kentucky Horse Park. While at the Horse Park, Brittany got to work the Rolex 3 Day Event, Steeplechase Races, and give draft horse driven trolley tours of the park.

Brittany’s love of horses began when she was very young when her uncle introduced her to Cody and Lady, 2 Clydesdales, that he used frequently in horse pulls, weddings, and other events. As a young child, she rode a Quarter Horse named “Little Miss Tequila” in dressage and hunter jumper shows, and owned a draft cross named “Britney.” Brittany has a love of all animals which can be seen on the family farm, where they have dairy and beef cattle, goats, sheep, swine, and chickens.

In her free time, Brittany enjoys riding her motorcycle, working on cars, tending to her vegetable garden, and loves to shop with her grandma. Brittany is very big on family and community. Brittany and her whole family are previous members of 4H and she is the 5th generation on her family farm. She has a grandfather that is an Army veteran and a brother currently serving in the Marines.

Alexa joined the TEVA team in June 2021. Growing up in Loudoun County, Alexa is very familiar with the Northern Virginia area. She has been entrusted as a caretaker for several horse farms in the county for over 4 years.

Alexa has been in the veterinary field for 3+ years. She gained her first experience in the field as a kennel attendant and receptionist for a boarding kennel in Lovettsville. Prior to joining TEVA, her previous role was a nurse/surgical assistant at West Frederick Veterinary Hospital for 3 years. Alexa attended Virginia Tech in Southern Virginia and holds a Bachelor's degree in Animal Poultry Science, Pre-Vet Option and Livestock & Equine Emphasis.

She has always had a passion for horses and has been riding for about 8 years. She started riding Hunters and switched to eventing 4 years ago.

Her hobbies include riding her horse faithful companion, Murdoch and snuggling with her teacup yorkie, Evie. She loves spending time with her friends.

Alexa brings great value to the TEVA team. She looks forward to the growth of TEVA and is anxious to apply her education and knowledge to assist in creating quality interactions with the clients and patients we treat.

Paula Joyce, MBA
Business Manager

Paula has been involved in the local community since 2005, and horses for more years than she will admit. She rides in several barns enjoying the benefits of learning different disciplines such as dressage and jumping. She enjoys trail riding and polo as well. She met Jay wile doing a pre-purchase exam on her horse and they've been together ever since.

Paula has a full-time corporate job, but works on all aspects of Total Equine with Dr. Joyce. As an economist, Paula brings business expertise to the table and assists with business development, client relations, process improvement and some day-to-day office management. When time permits, she rides along with Dr. Joyce on his farm calls. These are her favorite times because she cherishes caring for animals in need and the outdoors; not to mention quality time with her husband and kids. Assisting Dr. Joyce on farm calls also provides her with a different perspective of the business which lends to her business development ideas.
