What's Up Doc?

Our Doctors' days rarely end when our administrative office closes at 6pm. Whether it's a midnight foal assist or a 4am colic emergency, TEVA vets follow their hearts and always put the needs of your faithful equine companions first. Missed soccer games, late night dinners, rescheduled family plans, you name it - it's happened - without a second thought, without complaint, and with lots of patience, love, and support from our team, our families, and our friends.

But it's not always emergency calls that keep us busy on weekends. During the busy show season, our doctors can often be found serving as event veterinarians, judges, and volunteer ambulance drivers - equine medicine is a hard habit to break!

This weekend we have the pleasure of supporting two absolutely amazing local equestrian events.

Our TEVA Vet Team will support the USEF Para-Equestrian Dressage Invitational Friday through Sunday at Wheatland Farm in Purcellville. Wheatland Farm is a recognized International Para-Equestrian Dressage Center of Excellence by USEF and the U.S. Para Equestrian Association. This invitational event provides opportunities for premier athlete and horse combinations to qualify for the FEI World Equestrian Games Tryon 2018 (WEG). Results from this weekend's invitational are just one of the components used to determine the entries for the WEG. It should be an exciting weekend full of competitive events! We are excited and proud to support with veterinary assistance, as needed, to this incredible group of horses and riders.

But Wait, There's More!

Dr. Jay Joyce (and wife Paula) will also be serving as a jump judges this Sunday at the 2018 Brook Ledge Great Meadow International event presented by Adequan. After serving as an Official Event Veterinarian for many years, Dr. Jay thought it would be really fun to actually get to watch a competition, and jump judge out on the cross country course with the other volunteers. This event is the only leg of the FEI Eventing Nations Cup series held in North America and is considered an elite equestrian competition. The three-day event includes live music, polo exhibitions, dressage, showjumping, and cross country - and if that's not enough, there's also more than 50 equestrian product vendors on site at The Meadow Market and a Beer and Wine Garden to wet your whistle!
